Welcome to Our
Website PNGAAA |
Welcome to the
website of the Papua New Guinea-Australia Alumni
Association.
The Alumni Association was
established following a unanimous decision of almost
250 delegates to the 2006 Inaugural Alumni Conference
held in Port Moresby in November 2006.
Membership of the Association is open to any
Papua New Guinean who has studied at or through an
Australian educational institution - either privately
funded or under a sponsored program.
Australia
considers its relationship with PNG to be one of its
deepest and most enduring. It is strong on many
levels, including the people-to-people links formed by
the large number of Papua New Guineans who study in
Australia.
The Association further strengthens
the links between the two countries and gives
graduates a forum to contribute to debate about PNG's
future and ways in which both countries can benefit
from a continuing relationship.
Many thousands
of Papua New Guineans have studied in Australia, both
before and after Independence, and since 1999, around
1,000 Papua New Guineans have been awarded Australian
Development Scholarships (ADS) or similar scholarship
programs.
