Anthony Smare Thirty-two year old Mr Anthony Smare, General Manager, Corporate & Legal with Barrick PNG Limited (which owns 75 per cent of and manages the Porgera Gold Mine), studied in Australia in the 1990s under both the Secondary Schools Scholarship Program and as an ADS student.

Austin Reddy New Ireland Provincial Planner Mr Austin Reddy has been awarded two international Medals for his
recent studies in an Australian Front Line Management program.
Mr Reddy, who lives in Kavieng with his wife Narelle and their five children, undertook the NSW TAFE Diploma of Front Line
Management in 2006, as part of the AusAID program
offering training opportunities through PATTAF.

Ms Bundu, who represented Papua New Guinea in Basketball and Softball in the late 1970s and early 1980s, believes that only concentrated time and effort result in lasting success.

After 22 years with Magisterial Services and many more ahead of him, Mr Numapo, sees the future for PNG Law and Justice sectors in encouraging skilled Papua New Guineans to gain the qualifications that will ensure they move ahead both professionally and personally.

“So many people who live the traditional life in our villages have much to offer, but so many of their skills are disappearing and not being handed on as generations pass”, Kapo said.

Ruby Zarriga “Grasp the opportunity and go with an open mind”, advises Ruby Zarriga, one of the many successful ADS awardees who have returned to PNG since the program’s inception.
Ruby, a mother of two teenage daughters, had more than her fair share of challenges when she left home in early 2004 to undertake postgraduate studies in management at the Australian National University.

Tessie Soi Social Work Graduate from the University of Papua New Guinea; founder of “Friends Foundation”; and the woman known nationally for her willingness to give unclaimed babies who have died from HIV/AIDS a decent burial. Ms Tessie Soi originally thought she’d become a teacher.
